Missing Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Returns Home

Rawalpindi, October 2024 – Muhammad Akram, the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail who had been missing for several weeks, has returned home safely on September 25, 2024. His sudden disappearance raised concerns, especially since his last known location was in Islamabad’s G-13 area. Authorities and Akram’s family remained tight-lipped about his whereabouts until his unexpected return.

Akram went missing in mid-August after allegedly facilitating political figures in jail, notably Imran Khan, which led to speculation about his involvement in sensitive issues. The case gained significant attention when it was brought to the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench. The court directed law enforcement to provide updates on his status. Both the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) denied having him in custody, adding to the mystery.

His colleague, Assistant Nazeem Shah from the DIG Prisons office, who had also gone missing around the same time, has since returned as well. Earlier, another jail officer, Zafar Ghauri, had returned home on August 17.

Despite Akram’s return, the authorities remain silent about the details of his disappearance. The Lahore High Court is still scheduled for a hearing on this case to clarify the circumstances surrounding his time away, which remains unclear.

This development has sparked various rumors, but official statements remain minimal. The case continues to unfold as legal and government authorities investigate the full story behind his disappearance and sudden return.
